A beautiful and fascinating Illustrated Edition of David McCullough's classic work with full-page parchment envelopes with removable replicas of documents from the book including letters from George Washington, a July 8, 1776 printing of the Declaration of Independence on the front page of "Dunlap's Pennsylvania Packet" and many more. The book includes ten such envelopes, each with multiple removable documents.
In fine blue leatherette (?) with slipcase, the book is beautifully bound and is enclosed in a decorated cardboard slipcase, also in fine condition. Purchased new and the book has never been removed from the slipcase. The striking painting on the front of the slipcase is by John Trumbull, entitled "The Capture of the Hessians at Trenton."
256 pp. including an extensive index. Moderate shelf wear and damage to slipcase. Book is clean and has 100% of the recreated ‘ handwritten letters’ intact.
